Directions
Getting to Chelsea Piers
Chelsea Piers sits along the Hudson River waterfront between West 17th and West 23rd Streets. The complex is well-known, well-marked, and straightforward to reach from nearly every part of the city and region.
By Taxi & Car Service
Chelsea Piers is a standard drop-off location for taxis, Uber, Lyft, and car services throughout the city. Request drop-off at “Chelsea Piers, Pier 59” or “59 Chelsea Piers, New York, NY 10011” and drivers will know exactly where to go. The drop-off point is directly at the complex entrance, steps from the marina.
From Midtown Manhattan, the drive typically takes 10–15 minutes. From Lower Manhattan and the Financial District, allow 15–20 minutes. From Brooklyn, Queens, or New Jersey, plan for 20–30 minutes depending on traffic and your starting point.
By Car
Chelsea Piers is accessible from multiple directions. The most direct approach from the West Side Highway (Route 9A) is to exit at 23rd Street and head east one block, then south to the Piers entrance. The complex is also accessible via 12th Avenue/West Side Highway from both north and south.
Parking: Paid parking is available on-site at the Chelsea Piers complex garage. This is the most convenient option for guests arriving by car. Street parking in Chelsea is available but limited — on-site parking at the complex is strongly recommended for a stress-free arrival.
By Subway
The closest subway stations are:
- C/E trains — 23rd Street station (8th Avenue)
- 1 train — 18th Street station (7th Avenue)
- A/C/E trains — 14th Street/8th Avenue station
- L train — 14th Street/8th Avenue station
All of the stations are approximately 10-12 minute walk west. The Chelsea Piers marina is visible from 11th Avenue and West 17th Street.
Arrival & Boarding
The marina access opens five minutes before the scheduled charter start time. The vessel departs approximately five minutes past the scheduled charter time. Guests are encouraged to arrive on time. If you or your guests are running late, the captain will wait, but please keep in mind the charter is not refunded or extended or rescheduled for late arrivals.
A valid government-issued photo ID (passport or US driver’s license) matching the credit card used for booking is required for boarding.
A Neighborhood Worth Exploring — Chelsea
Chelsea Piers sits at the center of one of Manhattan’s most energetic and walkable neighborhoods. Whether the plan is to arrive early and explore before the charter, or continue the day after returning to the dock, Chelsea delivers.
The High Line
Begin any Chelsea visit on the High Line — the celebrated elevated park built on a former freight rail line that weaves through the neighborhood above street level. The views from the High Line through the neighborhood and the sense of peace to walk just above the frenzied pace of the city, are genuinely spectacular. It’s a calm, beautifully landscaped oasis just a block from the piers.
Chelsea Piers Sports & Recreation Complex
The 28-acre Chelsea Piers complex is far more than a marina. The facility includes a four-story golf driving range, ice skating rink, full-service fitness center and spa, gymnastics facilities, bowling, and a wide range of sports and recreation options. For families with children or groups looking to make a full day of it, the complex itself provides hours of activity.
Chelsea Market
A short walk east on 15th Street leads to Chelsea Market — a beloved gourmet food hall inside a converted biscuit factory. The indoor market is home to dozens of food vendors, specialty shops, and restaurants representing NYC’s remarkable culinary range. It’s an ideal spot to graze before a day on the water.
Pier 57 and Little Island
Pier 57, just south of Chelsea Piers, has been transformed into a vibrant waterfront destination with a food hall, gathering space, and rooftop garden. From the Pier 57 rooftop, Dream Boat NY yacht is visible next door.
To the south of Pier 57 is Little Island, NYC’s whimsical elevated park built on tulip-shaped concrete pillars in the Hudson River. Little Island itself is a short walk south and well worth a visit for its unusual architecture, city views, and open lawn space.
Chelsea’s Gallery District
The streets between West 20th and West 26th Streets, between 10th and 11th Avenues, form one of the world’s most significant art gallery concentrations. Dozens of established and emerging galleries are open to the public, typically Tuesday through Saturday. Chelsea’s gallery scene is free, accessible, and constantly rotating — a genuine cultural experience in a compact area.
Plan the Perfect Chelsea Day
For groups making a full day of it, a suggested sequence:
Morning: Walk the High Line, explore the neighborhood, browse Chelsea Market for coffee and breakfast.
Midday: Explore Chelsea galleries or spend time at the Chelsea Piers sports complex.
Afternoon/Evening: Board the private yacht for your private charter experience.
After the charter: Return to the neighborhood for dinner or a night cap — Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village all offer exceptional bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.
